Who qualifies
- New customers moving websites from another hosting provider.
- A paid hosting account. The migration is free once your hosting plan has been paid for — the payment for the service has to actually go through.
- Trial accounts don't qualify. An account still in its free trial period isn't eligible for the free migration until the plan is paid.
How to request a migration
- Sign up and pay for your hosting plan. Pick a plan on the hosting page and complete the payment.
- Open a support ticket from your Control Panel. Log in and create a new ticket in the support section.
- Tell us exactly what to move: which websites, subdomains, databases and email accounts.
- Tell us where they are now and give us the login details for your old hosting account — or upload a full cPanel backup instead (see below).
- Get your time estimate. We review what needs to be moved and reply with an estimated time for the transfer.
What to include in your ticket
| Item | What to tell us |
|---|---|
| Websites | The domain name of each site you want moved, and what it runs on if you know it (e.g. WordPress). |
| Subdomains | Every subdomain to move, e.g. blog.yourdomain.com or shop.yourdomain.com. |
| Databases | Which databases belong to which site. |
| Email accounts | The mailboxes you want moved to your new account. |
| Current host | Your current hosting provider and the control panel it uses (cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, etc.). |
| Access | The login URL, username and password for your old hosting account — or the location of the cPanel backup file you uploaded. |
The more precise the list, the faster we can plan the move — anything not mentioned in the ticket may not be included.
The faster way: upload a full cPanel backup
If your current host uses cPanel, you can speed things up by giving us a full account backup instead of login details:
- In your old cPanel, open Backup (or the Backup Wizard) and generate a full account backup. When it's ready, download the file.
- Upload that backup file to your new VeloServers account through FTP or the Control Panel's File Manager.
- Mention the file name and where you uploaded it in your support ticket.
A full cPanel backup contains your files, databases and email in one archive, so we can start the transfer without waiting for access to your old host.
How long does it take?
It depends on how many sites, databases and mailboxes there are and how large they are. Once we have reviewed what needs to be transferred, we reply in your ticket with an estimated time for the migration.
Before and after the move
- Keep your old hosting active until the migration is finished and you have checked your sites and email on the new account.
- Avoid changes on the old host during the move — new posts, orders or files added there after the copy is made may not be carried over.
- Point your domain to us when we confirm the migration is complete. DNS changes can take up to 24–48 hours to reach everyone.
- Change the password of your old hosting account once everything is moved, since you shared it in the ticket.
- Want your domain registered with us too? A domain transfer is a separate step and can be done at any time.
